Spotify reportedly eyes early-2027 launch for paid AI remix and cover tool

Spotify is targeting an early 2027 launch for an AI tool that lets users create covers and remixes, the Financial Times reported, as relayed by Music Ally and Music Business Worldwide.

The service would be a paid add-on, with a price of about $4-$5 a month reportedly being weighed. The reports say the launch could be timed around the Grammy Awards in February. Spotify declined to comment.

Spotify has already licensed the tool with Universal Music Group, Merlin, Kobalt and Believe. Talks with Sony Music and Warner Music Group are reportedly still ongoing. Participation is voluntary for artists.

Sources cautioned that neither the timing nor the pricing is final.
