Guided By Voices announce Speculation and Gossip for January 22
Robert Pollard's band shares lead single "Designed For Use" and says the album was made remotely.
Guided By Voices will release a new album, Speculation and Gossip, on Jan. 22, 2027. Rolling Stone premiered the first single, "Designed For Use", with an interview with Robert Pollard.
Pollard told the magazine the record was made remotely, with each member choosing his own approach to sound and instrumentation, and during a fixation on Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and surrealism. The title of the single comes from a phrase on an old record label.
The single features Pollard, Doug Gillard, Mark Shue, Kevin March and Bobby Bare Jr., with production by Travis Harrison.
Outlets disagree on numbering: Stereogum and Dork call it the band's 45th album, while one site says 44th. They also differ on the label, naming Rockathon Records and GBV Inc.
